Leis an deasaiche Daibhidh Eyre / By editor David Eyre

Tha e air a bhith caran duilich dhomh an iris seo de Chothrom Ùr a dheasachadh, agus chì sibh gu bheil an iris seo nas giorra na an àbhaist.
Chuir an naidheachd mu mhaoineachadh Chlì iognadh air mòran ann an saoghal na Gàidhlig. Gheibh sibh cunntas air an suidheachadh bho ar Bòrd Stiùridh an seo. Tha fiosrachadh an seo mu dhèidhinn chursaichean cànain.
It is been a difficult task to edit this edition of Cothrom Ùr, and you will see that this edition is shorter than normal.
The news about Clì’s funding surprised many in the Gaelic world. You will find an account of the situation from our Management Committee here. Information about language courses is available here.
Chaidh mise nam bhall de Chlì – tha mi a’ smaoineachadh – ann an 1990, nuair a thòisich mi ag ionnsachadh na Gàidhlig aig Oilthigh Dhùn Èideann. Thar nam bliadhnaichean bhon uairsin, the e air a bhith na thlachd dhomh a bhith a’ faighinn Cothrom tron phost, agus – nas cudromaiche na sin – a bhith mar phàirt de bhuidheann a bhios a’ toirt taic agus br0snachadh dha na daoine iongantach sin a tha cho deatamach ann an fàs na Gàidhlig – an luchd-ionnsachaidh. I became a member of Clì – I believe – in 1990, when I began learning Gaelic at Edinburgh University. Over the years since then, it has been a pleasure to receive Cothrom through the post, and – more important than that – to have been part of an organisation that gives support and encouragement to those wonderful people who are so essential to the growth of Gaelic – the learners.
Bhe e na fhìor urram dhomh a bhith nam dheasaiche aig Cothrom Ùr. Mar a thuirt mi san iris mu dheireadh, tha mi a’ smaoineachadh gun do sheall na h-àireamhan gun do chòrd an iris ri mòran. Bu mhath leam taing mhòr a thoirt dhan na h-uile duine a tha cuideachadh a thoirt dhomh thar nam mìosan, nam measg: Alison Lang, Dòmhnall I Dòmhnallach, Liam Alastair Crouse, Marcas Mac an Tuairneir, Alasdair MacCaluim, Robyn Ireland, Teàrlach Quinnell, Mechthild Ghreumach, Nicola Carty, agus gu h-àraidh Mairi C NicIll’innein. It was a real honour to be the editor of Cothrom Ùr. As I said in the last edition, I think that the numbers show that the magazine was enjoyed by many. I would like to give a big thank you to everyone who has helped me over the months, including Alison Lang, Dòmhnall I Dòmhnallach, Liam Alastair Crouse, Marcas Mac an Tuairneir, Alasdair MacCaluim, Robyn Ireland, Teàrlach Quinnell, Mechthild Ghreumach, Nicola Carty, and especially Mairi C NicIll’innein.
Tha Clì Gàidhlig feumach air ar taic, agus ged nach bi mi ag obair dhan bhuidheinn a-nist, tha mi an dòchas gum b’ urrainn dhomh cuideachadh a thoirt seachad dhan Bhòrd Stiùiridh. Agus gu dearbh, bidh mi fhathast a’ cumail ballrachd ann an Clì Gàidhlig. Clì Gàidhlig needs our support, and although I will not be working for the organisation now, I hope that I will be able to offer help to the Management Committee. And of course, I will be maintaining my membership in Clì Gàidhlig.
